Career Development Awards for Mid-career Researchers

The Wellcome Career Development Awards programme supports mid-career researchers seeking to establish or strengthen an independent research programme with high potential for scientific transformation. Through long-term funding, the programme aims to enable ambitious and innovative research contributing to major advances in the understanding of human health and well-being. The scheme supports the development of scientific leadership, innovative methodologies, interdisciplinary approaches, and the creation of sustainable research teams within universities and research institutions.

Why is this relevant for Lebanese universities?

This programme offers Lebanese universities a valuable opportunity to strengthen their international research profile by supporting high-potential researchers in developing long-term, independent scientific programmes. The call is particularly relevant for institutions aiming to reinforce advanced health-related research capacities, attract international partnerships, and support academic leadership development. It can also contribute to enhancing institutional research excellence and scientific visibility at the international level.

Projects may cover any discipline related to health, provided they demonstrate strong scientific innovation and transformative potential.
